Throughout his career, Zakariya has successfully led finance, accounting, operations, grants management, procurement, and compliance functions for complex, multi-million-dollar federally funded programs and nonprofit organizations. His expertise includes financial management, budgeting, accounting, internal controls, compliance, business operations, and systems optimization.
Zakariya has worked extensively with organizations funded by the U.S. Government and other major international donors, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL), the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and the World Bank. His deep understanding of nonprofit financial management, donor compliance, and organizational operations enables him to deliver practical, tailored solutions that help clients operate more efficiently, remain compliant, and achieve their strategic goals.

Combined with more than 22 years of professional experience, he brings extensive knowledge of nonprofit financial management, accounting, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. He is well versed in the U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR Part 200). His expertise enables organizations to strengthen internal controls, maintain regulatory compliance, optimize financial operations, and confidently manage federally funded programs.
